New York State Pistol Permit Course
New York State 18 Hour Concealed Carry Firearms Safety Course. Attending this course will allow you to apply for a pistol permit in accordance with the NYS Pistol Law effective 1 September 2022. This is a 16 hour course, plus two hours of range time. You can also use this course to renew your NYS permit in jurisdictions that require the 16 Hour course for permit renewal. Contact us about class requirements, course location and class registration. There is very demand for this class, and each class is strictly limited to 30 students.

NEW YORK STATE PISTOL PERMIT COURSE

New York State 18 Hour Concealed Carry Firearms Safety Course. Attending this course will allow you to apply for a pistol permit in accordance with the NYS Pistol Law effective 1 September 2022. This is a 16 hour course, plus two hours of range time. You can also use this course to renew your NYS permit in jurisdictions that require the 18 Hour course for permit renewal.
This class will be conducted at the Crum Elbow Sportsmens Association. The course fee includes the full two days of required classroom training as well as the required range qualifications.

Our Second Quarter meeting of the year will be held at the Crum Elbow Sportsmens Association in Hyde Park NY at 1800 hrs. This meeting is open to all Trustees, Advisors, and VSA members. This meeting will start off with a free BBQ. Please RSVP so we know how much food to prepare. Thanks!
NRA RANGE SAFETY OFFICER COURSE

The NRA Range Safety Officer program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification. NRA Range Safety Officers are people who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
This class will be held at the American Legion Building, 1765 Route 44, Pleasant Valley NY 12603 from 0900 - 1800hrs.


NRA CHIEF RANGE SAFETY OFFICE

This is one of the most advanced certifications offered by the NRA. The NRA Chief Range Safety Officer Course is authorized to run the Range Safety Officer training classes. Candidates must be current NRA Certified Instructor or have completed the NRA’s Basic Instructor Training (BIT) before taking this course.
REFUSE TO BE A VICTIM SEMINAR

One of the most important steps toward ensuring your own safety is having a personal safety strategy in place before you need it. NRA’s Refuse To Be A Victim® program teaches the tips and techniques you need to be alerted to dangerous situations and to avoid criminal confrontation. This seminar will be held at the Crum Elbow Sportsmens Association in Hyde Park NY.

Civilian Safety Awareness Program
The Civilian Safety Awareness Program is structured around helping you take precautions and build habits that could enhance your safety. This four hour course includes hands on exercises using inert pepper spray against simulated aggressors. Each student will receive a SABRE kit which includes additional training, and real SABRE pepper spray for personal protection.

Practical Defense Tactics

PDT – BTB01 BEYOND THE BASICS HANDGUN COURSE
DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to build upon the skills of each student. Students will be introduced to new concepts skills and tactics designed to increase speed, efficiency and accuracy. Students will learn the 4 types of pistol malfunctions and how to clear these stoppages under situationally induced stress.
Students should expect to shoot approximately 600 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation and the law surrounding that confrontation.
This course is for law-abiding adult citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state, or local laws, and is for experienced shooters. (shooters must be able to show mastery in basic shooting fundamentals and safe gun handling) Proof of shooting experience may be required at the discretion of the instructor and can be one of the following: NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card, military DD 214 with pistol qualification, or passing a Pre-Course Assessment
Course Fee is $200 plus a $50 Range Fee

PDT – ARC01 BEYOND THE BASICS RIFLE/CARBINE CQC
DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to build upon the skills of each student. Students will be safely, introduced to practical concepts, skills, tactics designed to increase speed, efficiency and accuracy with a rifle. Students will learn defensive shooting skills, positions and strategies and weapon manipulations, target acquisition, target transitions, clearing stoppages for defense while responding to a violent confrontation. This class is designed to help students focus on the core fundamentals of rifle shooting.
This course is for law-abiding adult citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state, or local laws, and is for experienced shooters. (shooters must be able to show mastery in basic rifle shooting fundamentals and safe rifle and pistol handling)
Course Fee is $200 plus a $50 Range Fee
Students that attend both class sessions will only be charged one range fee. These two classes will be taught at Double Eagle Pocono in Newfoundland PA. Lodging is available for students who would like to stay on site for the weekend.

Practical Defense Tactics, LLC is a firearms training company offering both core and advanced level instruction for the military, law enforcement, and law abiding citizens.
Our instructors are experienced NRA certified instructors with a knowledge base that encompasses combat marksmanship, competition shooting, personal protection and precision shooting.
