Campaigns promoting the safe storage of firearms to prevent suicide and accidents appear to work on military personnel and veterans, but how the message is crafted has a clear impact on effectiveness, new research has found.
VA RELEASES SAFE FIREARM STORAGE TOOLKIT IN SUICIDE PREVENTION EFFORT

VA has released the Safe Firearm Storage Toolkit, which was developed in partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms industry. The toolkit guides communities through the process of building coalitions to raise awareness about safe storage practices.

THE NATIONAL SHOOTING SPORTS FOUNDATION (NSSF) ®
The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) ® is the trade association for the firearm industry.
The firearm industry has partnered with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and AFSP to create a safe firearm storage toolkit designed to help prevent suicide among veterans. The toolkit guides communities through the process of building coalitions to raise awareness about securely storing firearms when not in use.
